Colchester Soccer Player Expectations
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
- Remember always that being part of an athletic team is a privilege.
- Make a commitment to the season in achieving personal growth and team success.
- Responsible behavior everywhere at all times including in school, at practice, to and from games, and during games.
- Be Responsible for your own actions, not only to yourself, but also to your teammates.
- Communicate like a winner; avoid swearing or negative comments.
- Become role models in school and out of school to younger players and fellow students.
- In the spirit of giving back and thanking the community, each individual Varsity athlete will be expected to perform a community service activity during the season.
- Attend all classes, be on time, and be serious about academic success.
- Academic class disciplinary action, lack of attendance, or repeated tardiness may result in appropriate loss of playing time.
- Repeated disciplinary actions about a player reported to a coach by the administration or faculty may result in game suspension (s) or team expulsion.
- Players are expected to be at all practices and games on time
- It is the individual athlete's responsibility to notify a coach when he will miss a practice.
- Family emergencies and sicknesses that keep one from attending school are excused absences.
- Players are encouraged to schedule doctor appointments and college visits when they do not conflict with practices or games.
- Players are accountable for all missed practices.
- Any player who does not notify a coach of missing apractice will serve a 1/2 game or 1/2 playing time suspension upon first infraction. Upon a second infraction the player will no longer be part of the team.
EQUIPMENT/FIELD RESPONSIBILITY
- Proper equipment is to be worn in practice as well as games; shin guards, no loose or dangerous jewelry, no hats.
- Players are responsible for all equipment issued and will be held accountable for anything lost or misplaced.
- As a team we leave practice and game fields cleaner then we found them.
- It is expected every player will ride the team bus to and from games.
- Make coach aware of any injury or problem as soon as possible
- Any player needing trainer services in order to practice or play in a game, needs to take care of the responsibility before scheduled start times.
- In order to maintain healthy lifesyles and optimum performance levels, players need to remain hydrated in a halthy manner and follow healthy diet habits.
- No high energy or at risk soda drinks will be allowed in the locker room, at practice or games.
- Learn how to take strength from each experience and continue to move forward. Be Positive.
- Soccer is a game being used to teach life long lessons.
- Enjoy the game, the relationships, and the experiences; have fun being an athlete.
- Take PRIDE in being a LAKER.
Players
who violate team expectations will be guided through the following
levels in order to correct their behavior and allow for improved
personal and team success. (Note exceptions above under
academic
and attendance.)
LEVEL ONE - For first minor infraction(s). - Warning given and discussion with player on how to correct problem(s).
LEVEL TWO - For repeated minor infractions or a major infraction. - Parent notification and player completes appropriate service that improves team or school success.
LEVEL THREE - For continued major/minor infractions. - Parent notification and player will be placed on a disciplinary contract. If the terms of the contract are not kept, the player will no longer be part of the team.
